Add Page Numbers: a practical guide

Adds sequential numbers from the starting value you enter. The output page count stays the same and existing page artwork remains.

Steps to use this tool

Select a PDF.
Set the first page number.
Add numbering and check the initial pages and footer space.

Tested example — 19 October 2026

Starting at 11 adds 11 to page 1 and 12 to page 2 in the sample.

Selected sample: sample.pdf (2421 bytes, 2 pages).

Measured output: sample-numbered.pdf — 3044 bytes; 2 PDF pages.

Check the result

Inspect both the first and second pages to confirm the sequence increments. Make sure the footer number does not obscure an existing page label.

Files and privacy

The public tool processes selected documents in your browser. It does not send document bytes to a conversion server. The page and its bundled libraries still download from this website. Keep the original, use an up-to-date browser and inspect your output before sharing it. See the privacy policy for hosting and support information.

If processing fails

A start value outside the supported numeric range is rejected. If the added footer overlaps essential content, retain the original and use a layout editor with configurable placement.
