Flatten PDF Forms: a practical guide
Reads the existing form and flattens its field appearances into the pages. An error is shown when there are no supported interactive fields.
Steps to use this tool
- Select a completed fillable PDF.
- Choose Flatten PDF Forms.
- Check visible values and confirm the fields are no longer interactive.
Tested example — 19 October 2026
The sample's filled text and checkbox form is exported with zero interactive fields.
Selected sample: filled.pdf (6551 bytes, 1 pages).
Measured output: filled-flattened.pdf — 6699 bytes; 1 PDF pages.
Test environment: Node + native canvas + actual site-ui.js form integration in LinkeDOM Representative sample; inspect your own output.
Check the result
Reopen the PDF and confirm filled text and checks remain visible. Try selecting a former field to verify it is no longer editable as a form control.
Files and privacy
The public tool processes selected documents in your browser. It does not send document bytes to a conversion server. The page and its bundled libraries still download from this website. Keep the original, use an up-to-date browser and inspect your output before sharing it. See the privacy policy for hosting and support information.
If processing fails
A file with no interactive fields produces a clear error. XFA or unsupported field appearances should be reviewed in a dedicated form editor rather than assumed to flatten correctly.
