Unlock PDF

Create an unencrypted page copy using a password you know.

    How this tool works

    Unlock PDF: a practical guide

Decrypts the document with the supplied password and copies its pages into a new PDF. An incorrect password stops the operation rather than being ignored.

    Steps to use this tool

    1. Select the PDF you are authorized to unlock.
    2. Enter its known password if required.
    3. Create the readable copy and compare its pages.

    Tested example — 19 October 2026

The encrypted two-page fixture becomes a readable two-page PDF containing SECRET1234.

    Selected sample: protected.pdf (3255 bytes, 2 pages).

    Measured output: protected-unlocked.pdf — 2359 bytes; 2 PDF pages.

The encrypted two-page fixture becomes a readable two-page PDF containing SECRET1234.
Page 1 rendered from the actual automated sample PDF output; this is not a browser screenshot.

Test environment: Node + native canvas + actual site-ui.js form integration in LinkeDOM Representative sample; inspect your own output.

    Check the result

Reopen the downloaded file without entering the source password. Compare page count and important text with the original document.

    Files and privacy

The public tool processes selected documents in your browser. It does not send document bytes to a conversion server. The page and its bundled libraries still download from this website. Keep the original, use an up-to-date browser and inspect your output before sharing it. See the privacy policy for hosting and support information.

    If processing fails

A wrong password remains an error and is never bypassed with ignoreEncryption. Check the exact password, including case, or obtain it from the document owner.
