How this tool works
PDF to Markdown: a practical guide
Extracts selectable text, adds a document heading and a heading for each page, and escapes common Markdown control characters in source text.
Steps to use this tool
- Select a text-based PDF.
- Run PDF to Markdown.
- Read the .md file and edit its page-based text structure.
Tested example — 19 October 2026
The sample Markdown includes ## Page 2 and source wording SECRET1234.
Selected sample: sample.pdf (2421 bytes, 2 pages).
Measured output: sample.md — 114 bytes.
Actual output excerpt:
# sample ## Page 1 SECRET1234 Apple 1000 Item Amount Haircut 300 ## Page 2 Second page. Cancellation terms.
Test environment: Node + native canvas + actual site-ui.js form integration in LinkeDOM Representative sample; inspect your own output.
Check the result
Open the .md file in a text editor and find its page headings. Review paragraph order before publishing it as documentation.
Files and privacy
The public tool processes selected documents in your browser. It does not send document bytes to a conversion server. The page and its bundled libraries still download from this website. Keep the original, use an up-to-date browser and inspect your output before sharing it. See the privacy policy for hosting and support information.
If processing fails
A scan without a text layer needs OCR first. Complex tables and lists should be edited manually rather than accepted as faithfully reconstructed Markdown.

Check the local-processing claim in your browser’s Network panel.
