How this tool works
Extract PDF Text: a practical guide
Reads text objects page by page and reconstructs approximate lines. Page labels help you return to the source when reviewing the extracted text.
Steps to use this tool
- Select a text-based PDF.
- Run Extract Text from PDF.
- Read the UTF-8 TXT and compare a distinctive source phrase.
Tested example — 19 October 2026
The sample TXT contains the source text SECRET1234.
Selected sample: sample.pdf (2421 bytes, 2 pages).
Measured output: sample.txt — 96 bytes.
Actual output excerpt:
Page 1 SECRET1234 Apple 1000 Item Amount Haircut 300 Page 2 Second page. Cancellation terms.
Test environment: Node + native canvas + actual site-ui.js form integration in LinkeDOM Representative sample; inspect your own output.
Check the result
Search the downloaded TXT for a distinctive source phrase. Read around columns and headers where PDF extraction order can differ from the visual reading order.
Files and privacy
The public tool processes selected documents in your browser. It does not send document bytes to a conversion server. The page and its bundled libraries still download from this website. Keep the original, use an up-to-date browser and inspect your output before sharing it. See the privacy policy for hosting and support information.
If processing fails
A No selectable text message is expected for an image-only scan. Use OCR PDF to Text for that source rather than accepting a blank TXT.
