Linearized PDF and fast web viewing

Linearization organizes a PDF so a compatible reader can begin showing useful page content before downloading the whole file. It is also called fast web view in some applications.

It is not the same as compression

Compression reduces stored data. Linearization arranges objects and adds information for efficient partial access. A file can be small without being linearized, or linearized without being the smallest possible version.

Hosting matters too

A web viewing workflow also depends on HTTP behavior, including whether byte-range requests work correctly. A browser may still need substantial data before displaying a complex page. The file alone cannot guarantee instant loading under every connection.

What this site does

The structural compressor here does not claim to linearize files. If fast web view is required, use a converter with explicit linearization support and verify the output and your hosting behavior. Keep normal page-content checks as part of that review.
