Control opening with a password
Encryption can require a password before a reader opens the PDF. It does not prevent an authorized reader from taking a screenshot or sharing a decrypted copy. Use a strong password, keep it safe and send it separately from the document.
Remove information rather than hiding it
A black rectangle drawn over text is not enough if the original text remains underneath. This site’s redactor renders pages, covers a chosen rectangle and builds a new image-only PDF without source text objects or attachments. You must check the covered area visually; text detection is not automatic.
Check the whole file
A document can identify someone through visible content, comments, metadata or attachments. The metadata remover deletes document Info and document/page XMP streams, but it does not anonymize every other object. Review your entire output and use an approved offline process for highly sensitive files.
